Enrolments open for the School of Cultural Journalism of the Il Ponte rosso Association

First lesson on Wednesday 12 February at the Minerva Bookshop

A training course for students of the Department of Humanistic Studies of the University of Trieste is planned

First lesson, Wednesday 12 February 2025 at 5 p.m. at the Libreria Minerva in Trieste, for the School of Cultural Journalism of the cultural association Il Ponte rosso. For 10 years the association has been publishing the monthly magazine of the same name in which journalists, writers, intellectuals, artists and teachers collaborate. The course is free of charge, offers specific training in the cultural sphere and is mainly aimed at young people aged between 20 and 30.
The initiative will continue until 21 May 2025 with one appointment per week, always on Wednesdays at the Minerva Bookshop from 5 to 7 p.m. The Wednesday lessons will be in presence and will last 2 hours. During the weeks of the course there will also be on-line lessons with a workshop slant, dedicated to the writing of articles, reviews, reports and interviews. Meetings with journalists, writers, essayists and graphic designers are planned. Course lecturers include Alessandro Mezzena Lona, Francesco Carbone, Walter Chiereghin, Pietro Spirito, Paolo Quazzolo and other well-known names on the cultural scene.

The initiative is organised with the contribution of the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region and in agreement with the Department of Humanistic Studies of the University of Trieste. For Disu students there is a 75-hour course recognised with 3 training credits, subject to completion of a training project (for information: stage.disu@units.it).

During the internship, the broad subject of cultural journalism will cover various topics: literary, art and theatre reviews, the approach to writing for online and print magazines, how to plan a proper interview and its writing, the approach and challenges of artificial intelligence, the use of Chat Gpt, cultural journalism in radio, the differences between cultural inserts and culture pages of a newspaper, narrative journalism from a news story.

For the purposes of the traineeship, there will be a total of 30 hours of in-person lectures, 35 hours of remote lectures, and 10 hours will be devoted to writing an article for a special issue of the magazine ‘Il Ponte rosso’, which will host all the articles developed during the course.
