Thu, Jan 23 2025, 5 - 8pm Testo evento On Thursday 23 January, from 17 to 20, in via del Monte 2/1 in Trieste, the University of Trieste and Trieste Contemporanea will present the seminar ‘Condividere l’impensabile (Sharing the unthinkable)’, an event which is part of the research project ‘Diluvio. Visualizzare l’impensabile (Visualising the unthinkable)’.The project is led by Ludovico Centis, winner of a call for young researchers promoted by the NPRR Ecosystems of Innovation Project ‘iNEST Interconnected North-East Innovation Ecosystem’, and focuses on the growing threat of climate change in the Northern Adriatic area, between the Gulf of Trieste and the Venetian Lagoon. Forecasts indicate a possible significant rise in sea level, which risks compromising cultural and environmental assets and important buildings, with long-term impacts on the physical and intangible traces of our history. The seminar will focus on the challenge of visually representing what might happen as a result of sea levels, exploring how to raise awareness and engage the community in the process. During the event, which will be held over two days which will respectively be entitled ‘Percepire l’impensabile (Perceiving the Unthinkable)’ and ‘Condividere l’impensabile (Sharing the Unthinkable)’, interdisciplinary approaches between the arts, sciences and communication will be discussed. The aim is to foster greater collective awareness of the effects of climate change and possible adaptation strategies. The meeting will also see the participation of experts such as Sasha Engelmann of Open Weather, Chiara Scaini and Francesco Scarel, who will present their professional research experience in the field of communication and active citizen participation in relation to climate change in coastal areas. The event is funded by the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP) within the project ‘iNEST - Interconnected North-East Innovation Ecosystem’ and is an opportunity to explore new ways of cooperation and innovation for sustainability.
