Cultural identity for the construction of networks to counter and prevent radicalization is the title of the book edited by Sergia Adamo (DiSU) and Giuseppe Ieraci (DiSPeS), which will be presented on Tuesday, December 3, at 6:30 PM at the Circolo della Stampa hall, Corso Italia 13, Trieste.

The event, moderated by journalist Fabiana Martini, will feature the two editors, who will engage in a dialogue with guest Luca Guglielminetti. What are the connections between the definition of cultural identities and the risk of short circuits that give rise to various forms of violence? And what are the keys to exploring these links?

These are the questions the authors have attempted to answer, starting from the belief that overcoming such short circuits must necessarily confront the possibility of an interdisciplinary space, where different methodologies and perspectives can intersect, beyond the rigid barriers that define sector-specific research.

The book, published by Edizioni Università di Trieste EUT, is, in fact, a sort of "precipitate" and collection of scientific contributions and dissemination related to the project Contro la violenza (Against Violence).

Cultural Identity for the Construction of Networks to Counter and Prevent Radicalization, funded by the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region between 2020 and 2022, was born from the convergence of different sensibilities within both the humanities and the socio-political fields of a working group from the Departments of Humanities and Political and Social Sciences at the University of Trieste.

In addition, a series of scholars from universities in Egypt, Serbia, Tunisia, Algeria, and Pakistan joined, united by a common interest in the relationship between themes of violence and cultural identity in associative life and the short circuits, unfortunately sometimes dramatic, that they can trigger.
