The ICU Foundation - Istituto Consumatori e Utenti (Consumers and Users Institute) has announced the 25th edition of the Laura Conti Prize to recognise theses on topics related to environmental, social and economic sustainability. 

Who it is aimed at 

The competition is open to bachelor's, master's and PhD theses discussed in Italian universities from the academic year 2010/2011 onwards. 

Eligible topics 

Theses can cover topics such as: 

• Energy saving and the fight against waste 
• Nature tourism and environmental restoration 
• Intelligent mobility 
• Recycling and waste management 
• Environmental legislation and education
• User and consumer safety 
• Solidarity economy, fair trade and ecological pacifism 
• Other topics of environmental and social relevance. 

Prizes 

The winner will receive a prize of 1,000 euros. The second-place winner will be awarded a prize of 500 euros, while the third-place winner will receive 250 euros. 

Deadlines 

Entries must be postmarked no later than 30th November 2024. 

How to participate 

1. Apply online by enclosing the thesis abstract (3-4 thousand characters), the thesis in digital format and proof of payment of 10 euros for secretarial fees. The payment can be made by postal current account (29119880, made out to Ecoistituto del Veneto Alex Langer), bank transfer (IBAN: IT96J050181210100016692519 - Banca Popolare Etica) or via PayPal. 

2. Send the thesis in paper format (preferably printed on both sides), having written ‘Premio ICU - Laura Conti 2024’ on the envelope, to the following address Ecoistituto del Veneto, Viale Venezia, 7, 30171 Venezia-Mestre (VE) (Recommended mailing by Posta1, which includes delivery verification).
