On Tuesday, November 26, at 1:30 PM in the Conference Room of Building D (Piazzale Europa), the presentation of the book “Equality: Where Do We Stand? Contributions for an Interdisciplinary Dialogue”, edited by Professor Saveria Capellari, will take place.

The event is promoted by the Interdepartmental Research Center for Gender Studies (CISG) and the Department of Economic, Business, Mathematical, and Statistical Sciences (DEAMS).

The book explores the issue of gender equality in various contexts and disciplines and collects multidisciplinary contributions addressing topics such as: the analysis of extreme events such as violence and poverty, domestic family labor and female employment in the labor market, work-life balance and well-being from a legal and business perspective, the link between health and work, female leadership in the American context, and rights and labor in the Arab world from a historical perspective.

The editor, Saveria Capellari, a scholar of economic policy, involved authors from economic, legal, humanities, social psychology, and medical disciplines.

Claudia Goldin, the Nobel Prize in Economics 2023, argues that "the converging roles of men and women are among the grandest advances in society and economy in the last century." The book was born from the desire to understand whether this significant change, which has partly taken place in Italy as well, has been able to generate a structural and profound change in today’s society.

Thanks to its multidisciplinary perspectives, the study discusses the contribution of academic research on the topic with a forward-looking approach and identifies some open issues.

After a brief introduction to the book, the event, which is open to the public, will continue in the form of a roundtable discussion with several UniTS professors who are also authors of the work: Donata Vianelli, Elisabetta Vezzosi, Roberta Nunin, Patrizia Romito, Elena Podrecca, Dolores Ferrara, Sergia Adamo, Natalina Folla, Ludovico Carrino, and Rubina Romanello.

The book, which is freely accessible, will be available for consultation and download in the University’s digital archive Openstarts starting in the afternoon of Monday, November 25.
