On December 2, 2024, from 10 AM to 1 PM, the PhD Innovation Award will take place in the Main Hall of Building A, Piazzale Europa Campus. This event, organized by UniTS as part of the University’s Centennial celebrations, will honor five PhD graduates who completed their final examination between January 1, 2023, and June 30, 2024.

The ceremony will begin with a welcome address by Rector Roberto Di Lenarda, followed by opening remarks from Alessandro Baraldi, Advisor to the Rector for scientific research and doctoral programs.

Three distinguished speakers will provide insights into the role of innovation in science and technology:

• Maurizio Manzin, Full Professor at the University of Trento, will present “Innovation and Technoscience in the Post-Thought Era”.
• Silvia Gross, Full Professor at the University of Padua, will discuss “Chemistry Between Past, Present, and Future: A Versatile Tool for the Green Transition”.
• Anna Cereseto, Full Professor at the University of Trento, will explore “The Revolution of Genome Editing in Life Sciences: From Advanced Therapies to New Agrifood”.

During the event, the award winners will present their PhD theses, showcasing the results and innovative ideas that earned them this prestigious recognition.

The ceremony will be enriched by a performance from the Choir and Orchestra of the University of Trieste.

The goal of the event is to highlight the ideas, originality, and creativity that form the foundation of knowledge and innovation, celebrated during this Centennial year.
