Tue, Oct 29 2024, 3 - 5pm Sede evento Room A, ground floor - Building A, Piazzale Europa Campus Testo evento On Tuesday 29th October, at 15:00, in Room A of the Main Building (Building A – Piazzale Europa Campus), a round table entitled ‘America goes to the polls. Challenges, issues and perspectives’ will be held, organised by the Department of Political and Social Sciences and the Department of Humanities.The initiative, open to the public as well as to all UniTS students and staff, will address the theme of the upcoming US presidential elections, offering an analysis of the main dynamics of the election campaign and the strategies adopted by Kamala Harris and Donald Trump.The meeting will focus on the central themes of the US political debate, such as the economy, foreign policy, national security and civil rights, comparing the different positions of the two candidates.Particular attention will be paid to the challenges facing the next president, including dealing with domestic polarisation, consolidating the post-pandemic economic recovery, climate change and relations with powers such as China and Russia.The discussion will also extend to the impact of the US elections on European countries, considering issues related to NATO, international trade and cooperation in global crisis management.The possible implications of the next president's foreign policy choices in ongoing crises, such as those in the Middle East, Ukraine and the African context, will also be analysed.The round table will then offer an overview of future scenarios, with the aim of providing the audience with an informed and knowledgeable interpretation.
