On Thursday, May 23, 2024, Elisa Perego, SELSI representative for the University of Pavia, and Piergiorgio Trevisan of the University of Trieste will participate in a Project multiplier event at the Folkhögskola in Malmö, Sweden. The event aims to promote accessible and inclusive communication and education, central themes of the SELSI Project (Easy Spoken Language for Social Inclusion, 2022-2024, funded by the European Union under the Erasmus+ program, Key Action KA220-ADU - Cooperation Partnership in Adult Education).

The event, organized by the Swedish nonprofit  Dyslexiförbundet, will be a landmark in promoting inclusive and accessible communication and education.

The day's proceedings will be opened by Dyslexiförbundet. Afterwards, the Folkhögskola of Malmö will illustrate the importance of nonformal education for adults in Sweden, which is crucial to ensuring opportunities for lifelong learning, that is, learning that continues through the various stages of life.

The keynote speaker will be Tatjana Knapp, Project Manager and director of Zavod Risa, Slovenia. Knapp will explain the goals of SELSI and offer valuable insights into the scope and long-term goals of the Project. The morning sessions will also feature the participation of specialist Ulrica Lejbro (Agenzia Svedese per i Media Accessibili) which will describe the skills needed to create guidelines for talking books, an essential resource for people with reading difficulties.

The proceedings will continue with a panel discussion on the importance of direct and ongoing user involvement in the development of SELSI recommendations for Easy Spoken Language. Stefan Johansson (Begripsam, Svezia), Tatjana Knapp and Gunta Anča (Vieglās valodas aģentūra, Lettonia) will lead the discussion and present the results of tests conducted with users in Slovenia, Latvia and Sweden.

In the afternoon, the conference will resume with sessions led by prestigious speakers Eva Wennås Brante (University of Malmö), speech therapist Marika Schütz, and Madeleine Fritsch Lärka, a journalist at Swedish Radio, who will address various facets of accessible and inclusive communication and education.

This multiplier event will be an important time of reflection and meeting for all stakeholders, experts and supporters of the Easy Language to initiate new academic and practical collaborations aimed at creating a more inclusive and accessible society for all.
