Rethinking Professional Profiles for an Evolved PA. Eliminating Stereotypes by Enhancing Training is the title of the conference, organized by the University of Trieste in June 2021, that gave rise to the contents of this open access publication edited by Sabrina Luccarini, with a preface by the University of Trieste's Rector Roberto Di Lenarda, published on the occasion of the University of Trieste's Centennial.

This volume is published in open access: the file of the entire work is freely downloadable from the  FrancoAngeli Open Access platform.

The basic idea of the conference was to bring back the fundamental concepts and tools to ensure a steady recovery of the public administrative system, identifying two strategic levers: recruitment and training of human capital. These issues are even more relevant today, at the stage of implementation of the investment projects of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, where the Public Administration, as a whole and in its broadest sense, is undergoing a total overhaul and, at the same time, is the implementer of the country's economic recovery actions.

Sabrina Luccarini is Director General at the University of Bologna, former Director of the University of Trieste and Executive in Sapienza University of Rome. She is coordinator of the Evaluation Board of the University of Palermo and a member of the Evaluation Board of IUAV. A graduate in Political Science, she attended the SUM Master's degree at the Milan Polytechnic and the Master's degree in Human Resources Process Management, Development and Evaluation at John Cabot University. Throughout her career, she has developed solid experience in public administration and university management. She has held several key positions that have enabled her to acquire specific skills in the management and organization of higher education and research institutions.
