On Friday 15 March 2024, at 9:30am, in the Classroom E1 in Building C1 on the campus of the University of Trieste, in Piazzale Europa 1, the conference ‘Steel and Composite Structures - Recent Developments and New Challenges’ will take place, a study day in memory of Prof. Claudio Amadio, the esteemed Professor of Construction Technology.

The event, sponsored by the ReLUIS Interuniversity Consortium (Network of University Laboratories of Earthquake Engineering), is organised by the Department of Engineering and Architecture in collaboration with C.T.A. - College of Steel Technicians, and with the valuable support of several industrial partners, such as Cimolai Architectural, BLDing Studio, AMV Software Company, Maffeis Engineering, Gefyra Engineering, NextFEM and Engitec.

Amongst the distinguished speakers will be Prof. Raffaele Landolfo and Prof. Marisa Pecce (University of Naples Federico II), Prof. Massimo Fragiacomo (University of L'Aquila), Prof. Lorenzo Macorini (Imperial College London), Prof. Corrado Chisari (University of Campania 'Luigi Vanvitelli'), Prof. Daniele Casagrande (CNR - Institute for BioEconomics), and many other colleagues and collaborators - both from the scientific and professional world - who over the years have been able to share experiences with prof. Claudio Amadio and appreciate his competence, dedication, passion and commitment.

His scientific activity, which has been particularly extensive and always wide-ranging in his almost 40-year career, has involved theoretical, numerical and experimental research carried out on basic and applied topics of Construction Technology, relating in particular (but not only) to steel structures, steel-concrete composites, wood and glass.

On this occasion, an award ceremony will also be held for engineer Pasquale Nacchia Crescenzo (a graduate of the University of Salerno, and now a Webuild designer), winner of the first edition (2023) of the 'Amadio' Prize for graduating students. The 2024 edition will then be presented, dedicated to young master's graduates in Civil Engineering who have significantly contributed to innovation and the advancement of knowledge in the construction sector.
